Urrrgh.

Everyone please note the time of publication of this note. I've had a few people wondering what's been up with me lately. Long story short: I haven't gotten a good night's sleep in over a month. So I'm kind of cranky / out of it / anti-social / very unhappy. Bear with me, folks. On another note entirely, I finally managed to fix a pot of rice without burning it. I got adventureous and then proceeded to make fried rice tonight. Came out pretty well for my first attempt. Good grief this is banal. That's why I was so loathe to start a blog in the first place. PAX has been announced for this year. I find it extremely compelling. August 26-28th, in Bellevue WA. That gets done the day before Fall classes start. Now who do we know that's from that part of the country....

Blogs don't have to run on banality, but if that's what you feel like pumping into it, then that's what you do. That's the beauty of the blog system.

Sorry to hear you've been on such a crappy sleep schedule lately. I know you've been trying to kick that for a while. We were all a little weirded out when you didn't budge while we stole your fish, and then Roxanne claimed to have seen you online less than half an hour later. We figured we'd accidently woken you up, and you just didn't want to get up to talk to us. Understandable. Better luck next time it gets dark outside.

PS. We stole your fish. I mean borrowed.

*sigh* That's right about the time of the U2 concert. That could've been one helluva trip. But...twasn't meant to be (for me anyway).

We took your fish while you were asleep yesterday. I hope we didn't wake you up.

It's not the schedule that's getting me. That's a symptom, not a cause. It's the fact that I'll literally lie down for five or six hours without actually ever sleeping. What's the point in going to bed at a reasonable hour if it's not going to do any good anyway?

I've been trying various things to get some sleep - rigid sleeping schedules and to-bed-routines, biofeedback, chemical assistance... (I'm on my fourth prescription sleeping medication. None of them have worked so far.)

Actually, I've got a new prescription in my wallet right now; I need to get to a pharmacy and get it filled. Perhaps *this* one will work.

Sadly enough, it's been like this for about five years now. Every six months or so I'll get a decent night of sleep; just enough to remind me what that is. Not enough to actually do that much good though.

With any luck, this new prescription (Sonata, for those who care) will help. Perhaps this time next week I'll be chipper, hale, and hearty.

Yeah right.

Oh, y'all didn't wake me up. I woke up from a downright disturbing dream about 10:30 / 10:45 after collapsing exhausted that afternoon. Didn't notice the fish was gone until this morning. Well, afternoon.

On a brighter note, I would totally be up for watching some Escaflowne. That show makes me happy.

You never know... I do like road trips. I'm sure John would be up for it too... he'd like to go to PAX, has a road-trip worthy car, and is thinking about moving to the Seattle area after he graduates. Sounds very compatible.
